Past and present coaches
Clemens Dierks – present
Nicholas Fyffe – past (and present whenever Clemens is travelling)
Friedhelm Petry – in Germany
Why Dressage?
I agree with Kate Taylor-Wheat: Jumping is just too scary!
But also, it is the most beautiful expression of the perfect communication with an animal
What do you look forward to in your dressage day?
Seeing how much Rev enjoys his prework massage and of course when it all comes together in a training session and at a show
What is your highlight or specialty, and what is your secret?
My speciality is my willingness to learn and my awareness & knowledge of the mental side to our sport. Through my own coaching and NLP experience I’ve learnt how beneficial it is, especially in a sport like ours, based on a successful communication with an animal.
If you could train with anyone in the world who would it be?
Steffen Peters was an inspiration to train with. Hopefully we can bring him here more often! Apart from that I am very happy training with Clemens, he is so experienced and helps me keep calm and focussed when learning new movements.
Your proudest dressage moment?
Apart from owning and riding a talented horse every day…Winning State Champs and coming 6th at Australian Champs with my own horse, Rev, last year.
The most important thing you have learned?
Taking responsibility - We get presented with situations in our life which allow us to learn and grow and become who we are truly meant to be.
Gratefulness for the big and small things.
The most important part of your horses routine
Equissage every day before working Rev, followed by a thorough massage with brushes. Icing his legs after work
Your secret to keeping your horses sound and happy?
Having a good team (trainer, Nick & grooms, vet, farrier,), daily graze on the paddock and variety in the work, always walking minimum of 10 minutes to warm up
A typical day in your life?
Getting up at 4.40, lesson with Clemens, working at Alcatel-Lucent until 4.00 pm, coaching my first client at 5.30pm and the second at 7.30pm, then dinner with my wonderful partner Roger and off to bed early (9.30pm).
Your five year plan?
Becoming known as the ambassador/expert for High Performance Coaching for Equestrian athletes in Australia, with Stepping Up Coaching.
Training and competing Rev at Grand Prix level.
Still madly in love with my partner and golf nut, Roger

The privilege of training a young horse can be likened to the artist with a blank canvas, it all begins with only brush strokes until an image begins to appear.

Motivation often sounds like a lot of pressure - "I must" or "I should", but really it is about you creating a mindset of "I really want" or "I get to".

When we hope for change or improvement coming from something (or someone) external to us, we set ourselves up for frustration and failure.
